How can citizen science be integrated into research projects and successfully used for EU funding? The interactive workshop "From Idea to Impact - incl. EU Funding Strategies!” will offer practical insights, methods, and best practices on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at TRIANGEL in Karlsruhe. Experts such as Josep Perelló (University of Barcelona), Anne Kathrine Overgaard, and Thomas Kaarsted (University of Southern Denmark) will show ways in which citizen science builds bridges between science and society. The event is aimed at researchers, employees, and interested parties from civil society, politics, and administration. Starting at 1:30 pm, there will be an opportunity to register for 1:1 expert consultations or to explore the regional citizen science projects at the MobiLab in front of the Natural History Museum together with other participants." From 7 to 15 September 2024, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was represented at the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair. As part of the communication of the latest developments of the EPICUR alliance, KIT, together with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), presented the results of a study on regional labour market needs and provided insights into the research area of lifelong learning. With its program "Europäische Hochschulnetzwerke (EUN) - nationale Initiative" the German Academic Foreign Service (DAAD) supports the EU initiativ of "European Universities". Since the beginning of the year, KIT and 21 other German Universities are supported in the third round of funding. They get around 14 Million Euros until 2026 out of the budget of the Ministery for Education and Research in addition to the EU funds.

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has once again improved its position in the renowned QS World University Ranking and is ranked 98th in this year's edition, making it one of the top 100 universities worldwide. This means that KIT has climbed four places compared to the previous year. Within Germany, which is represented by 48 universities, KIT improved by one position to 5th place. KIT performs particularly well in the "success of graduates” indicator, where it ranks third in Germany.

The focus was on dialog about international research cooperation, the further development of Ethiopian Centers of Excellence and insights into current KIT projects in the fields of energy, water, climate and technology. People under 28 from Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland can use their tickets to travel on regional trains in the Grand Est region and to Paris, while French youth can take advantage of the same offer in Germany. Long-distance and inner-city public transport trains are excluded, and free reservations are required on certain sections of the route.

Exkursion KIT-ENSAM - Besuch bei Arts et Métiers in Metz und Paris

20 Studierende des KIT besuchten die Grande École Arts et Métiers in Metz. Auf dem Programm standen eine Führung durch den Campus, Präsentationen zu Studien- und Austauschmöglichkeiten sowie ein Besuch der Labore. Außerdem nahmen die Studierenden an einem Kurs teil. Anschließend ging es weiter nach Paris, wo die Gruppe zunächst den Pariser Campus besichtigte und gemeinsam mit Studierenden von Texas A&M an einem Entrepreneurship-Event teilnahm. Danach erkundeten sie Station F, Europas größten Start-up-Campus. Den Abschluss bildeten eine Bootstour auf der Seine und ein Besuch im Musée d’Orsay.

Vom 04. bis 29. August findet ein Intensivkurs für Französisch in der Bretagne statt. Das Programm besteht aus Sprachblöcken, sowie Studienvorbereitungseinheinten. Das Stipendium umfasst die Hin- und Rückreise, Unterkunft, Freizeitprogramm, Versicherung, sowie 466€ monatliche Zulage. "Der Jugend in Europa eine Stimme geben" heißt das Debattierthema dieses Jahr. Es werden innovative Ideen, wie junge Menschen aktiv in politische Entscheidungsprozesse eingebunden werden können, gesucht. Studenten aller Fachrichtungen sind eingeladen in Teams kreative Konzepte zu entwickeln. Es finden öffentliche Debatten und Workshops an Hochschulen sowie Präsentationen der Projekte in der französischen Botschaft in Berlin statt. Die Gewinner reisen nach Straßburg umm spannende Diskussionen mit europäischen Entscheidungsträger zu führen. Die Bewerbungsphase läuft noch bis zum 16. Building on previous successes in breeding for resistance, this project focuses on innovative strategies to enhance climate resilience through interactions between grapevine roots and microorganisms in the rhizosphere. It investigates how targeted microbiome engineering of rootstocks can strengthen resistance to GTDs and the role that the genotypes of both rootstock and scion play in this resilience. Funding Line "Research, innovation and transfer" - 2023 Due to climate change, mismanagement and multiple use conflicts, the socio-ecological integrity of rivers has become a globally critical issue. This project aims to develop and test innovative solutions addressing the river crisis, and formulate recommendations to upscale this know-how to other hydrological and cultural contexts beyond Europe, based on thematical studies in the Rhine and other European rivers. The 18 months Seed Money project will reinforce the Eucor partners working on interdisciplinary methods and solutions, aiming at practical science-policy transfer in the context of riverscape management, perform transboundary fact-finding workshops in cooperation with the local stakeholders, generate a competitive proposal including Eucor partners for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Doctoral Network (DN) with about 15 PhD theses. Theses will be jointly elaborated and supervised by an international team of experts, in close cooperation with the new Eucor MSc. course and the new Eucor Excellence Chair on Water Sustainability, interacting and fostering further European projects.

Funding Line "Teaching" - 2020 The Upper Rhine Graben is world-renowned for its geothermal resources, which already provide renewable thermal energy. The goal of the Geothermal Master Field School is the transnational education of next-generation experts through an innovative, annual 9-day field school. Held in Northern Alsace (France), in direct vicinity to the geothermal sites in Soultz-sous-Forêts and Rittershoffen, the course will teach students to apply theoretical geoscience concepts on the evolution of a deep geothermal system from exploration to exploitation. The course thus exposes students to real-world decision-making processes related to the industrial exploitation of renewable georesources.
