Undergraduate Initiative

The Undergraduate Initiative serves as an avenue for MIT undergraduates to gain exposure and networking opportunities within the biotechnology industry. MBG hosts events to encourage students to expand their networks, find research opportunities, and gain mentorship by connecting with industry professionals and graduate students. The initiative also hosts seminar series to introduce undergraduates to the biotech industry.\

Industry Initiative

The Industry Initiative focuses on preparing MBG members for careers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. To do this, MBG invites industry professionals to give seminars about their scientific work and hosts workshops exposing students and postdocs to a variety of careers in biotech and pharma. The initiative also runs site visits to various local companies and a mentorship program providing 1:1 matching between MBG members and an industry scientist.\

Entrepreneurship Initiative

The Entrepreneurship Initiative aims to expose MBG members to the vibrant Cambridge/Boston biotech startup community and giving them opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills to aid in starting, or joining, an early-stage biotech venture. This initiative typically runs a networking night linking students with startup founders, venture capitalists, and consultants. MBG also hosts a number of small group discussions with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, professional development seminars on aspects of entrepreneurship, and incubator site visits.\

DEI Initiative

The DEI Initiative provides a vibrant platform for meaningful conversations on fostering diversity and equity in the biotech industry. The initiative hosts semester-long seminar series for participants to engage with diverse voices and gain critical insights into the challenges and opportunities in the field. Additionally, the DEI initiative spearheads impactful projects such as the Young Biotech Leaders Scholarship Program, actively fostering change and access for underrepresented groups.\

Career Fair and Sponsorship Initiative

With regards to the annual MBG Career Fair, the initiative recruits company participants and Fair attendees and spearheads professional development workshops such as resume reviews.

Consulting Initiative

The Consulting Initiative coordinates with local public laboratories, startups, and companies to deliver actionable insights and tailored solutions to specific problems. We are working with Boston Open Science Laboratory to help rebrand their programming, expand their network, and boost their outreach. To provide our members an opportunity to grow their soft skills, we are hosting workshops led by peers with consulting experience,
