## GRE/GMAT

- Strongly recommended for all applicants
- While there is no minimum score for standardized tests, the average scores from successful applicants have been in the following ranges:
  - GMAT 680-720
  - GRE 155-160

**Applications without GRE or GMAT enhance their likelihood of admission only if:**

- Applicant has a professional background in engineering, accounting or finance.
- Applicant has a record of successful academic completion of quantitative courses (e.g. graduate or undergraduate finance, accounting, algebra, calculus, engineering) from an accredited, reputable university (e.g., universities included in the QS world rankings)
- The applicant has demonstrated truly exceptional professional achievement in other areas.

## English Language Proficiency Exam

If English is not your native language (regardless of your educational background) you must either submit either **TOEFL iBT** or **IELTS** test scores or apply for an **English Language Test Waiver** **(due by 12/15 of the application year)**

Note: MIT Graduate Admissions does *not* accept TOEFL MyBest, TOEFL Essentials, or TOEFL ITP scores. **Only the TOEFL iBT is accepted for admission.**

**Minimum Scores**

- TOEFL 100
- IELTS 7.5

- **To Apply for an English Language Testing Waiver**
- Due in Slate on 12/15 of application year
  - Submit a clear outline of your history of English language experience, both academic and professional. **Do not upload certificates or transcripts in place of this outline.**
  - Provide **two writing samples** of your own work, written in the past two years, that showcase your English language capabilities.
    - They must both be single-author, and at least four pages.
    - The documents may be professional or academic in nature but should relate to the real estate industry.
- OPTIONAL: You may also include an old (older than two years) TOEFL Score as part of your waiver request package.
- Applicants will be informed as soon as possible if their waiver application is approved.
- If the waiver application is not approved, applicants will need to provide an English Language Test Score
