TU Wien is a cosmopolitan university and is part of a global network of postsecondary science and education. Internationalisation increases the quality of research, teaching and services and is therefore actively embodied at TU Wien. Almost a third of students and scientific staff do have an international background. Another visible sign of embodied internationality is TU Wien´s successful participation in international higher education and research programmes and international cooperations, as well as its presence in multilateral university networks.

The individual service units of the department INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND GLOBAL AFFAIRS offer a wide range of services for students and staff, supporting the initiation and further development of TU Wien's international cooperations in the field of higher education and management.

Student and Staff Exchange Services

Incoming Exchange Students: studying at TU Wien

The service unit Student and Staff Exchange Services provides to international exchange students coming in the framework of international mobility programmes (e.g. Erasmus, Joint Study) advice concerning planning of their studies at TU Wien and supports them during their stay in Vienna.

Outgoing Exchange Students: studying abroad

The service unit Student and Staff Exchange Services provides to students of TU Wien advice concerning identification of the host institution, help in finding a suitable mobility programme, and support in submitting the application.

Staff: mobility grants, projects

The service unit Student and Staff Exchange Services provides funding for international trips of TU Wien staff and stays of international guests at TU Wien in the course of initiating co-operations and university partnerships, coordinates international mobility programmes, and provides assistance in preparing and implementing international higher education and university management projects.

EU Alliances and Cooperations

The service unit  EU Alliances and Cooperations coordinates the cooperation  of TU Wien within the European University Alliance European Universities Linking Society and Technology (EULIST) which is supported by the Erasmus+ programme, action “European Universities”.\ EULiST is focused on interlinking knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) together with Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) to develop solutions to the major societal challenges of today and tomorrow – notably climate change, digital transition and social cohesion.

International Alliances and Cooperations

The service unit  International Alliances and Cooperations is responsible for the strategic development of global and institutional partnerships and cooperation agreements.

This includes the initiation, negotiation and conclusion of institutional university partnerships and cooperation agreements.

The strategic objectives include global monitoring of international relations in the Higher Education Area, information for the Rectorate and the faculties as well as concept and project development for internationalization.

Japan Austria Science Exchange Center (JASEC)

JASEC coordinates and supports scientific cooperation between TU Wien and Japanese universities and research institutions at various levels – both by organising short-term or long-term research stays at master's, doctoral and postdoctoral level and by initiating and supporting research projects.
