# Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik (Electrical Engineering and Information Technology)

From computers, smartphones, and household appliances to robots, electric cars, and energy supply - electrical engineering is practically everywhere. The Bachelor's Programme “Elektrotechnik and Informationstechnik” (hereafter: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology) is just as diverse. Students learn the fundamentals of technologies such as microcomputers, semiconductor physics, and telecommunications. Complemented by courses in machines and drives, circuit technology, and energy supply, the programme provides a broad foundation for further specialisation.

The programme covers the following subject areas:

- **Electrical Engineering** (Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetic Fields and Waves, Integrated Electronics, Energy Supply and Drives)
- **Mathematics and Information Technology** (Mathematics, Digital Systems and Microcomputers, Programming)

## Programme-PRe-Phase

There is no selection procedure for the Bachelor's degree programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. ## Further Information

### Which skills are needed for academic success?

No prior knowledge is required for this program. All the necessary fundamentals are included in the curriculum. However, if you are interested in this bachelor's programme, you should be curious and motivated to learn. It is also an advantage if you enjoy mathematics, as many scientific theories in electrical engineering are expressed using mathematical concepts.

For first-year students, there is a course to learn how to use measurement devices, as well as a mathematics refresher course to ensure everyone starts with the same foundation. Programming is taught during the course of the studies.

In addition to a basic technical understanding, the ability to think “outside the box” is definitely an asset.

### What can I do with my degree?

After completing the bachelor's programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, entry into numerous technical professions is possible. However, the bachelor’s programme covers a very broad field. Therefore, we recommend specializing in one of the advanced master’s programmes.

Job prospects are very good, and there are many opportunities in industry and business, consulting, public administration, transportation companies, energy providers, and more. Companies often approach prospective graduates directly. Of course, a career in research and academia is also possible.
