Areas of Responsibility

The tasks of the independent arbitration committee pursuant to Section 43 (1) of the University Act 2002 include:

Objections regarding the incorrect composition of the collegial body and objections regarding the inadequacy of the election proposal shall be raised by the Working Group on Equal Treatment Issues if the proportion of women of at least 50% is not sufficiently maintained. This applies to the appointment of members of the Senate, the University Council, or any other collegial body, in particular the commissions to be appointed by the Senate, as well as all nominations for the Senate election.

Matters subject to legal appeal (e.g., proceedings in study matters, habilitation and service law proceedings) and performance assessments (e.g., assessments of examinations and academic work) are excluded from review by the Arbitration Committee.

Members

The Arbitration Committee consists of six members and six substitute members who are not bound by any instructions or orders in the performance of their duties. One male and one female member and one male and one female substitute member are to be nominated by the Senate, the University Council, and the Working Group on Equal Treatment Issues for a term of two years. Two of the members must be legally qualified.
