A selection procedure is carried out PRIOR to admission

Further information about the selection procedure

Stage 1: Previous education

The first stage of the admission procedure consists of uploading documents to prove previous education within the pre-registration.

The documents to be uploaded during the pre-registration process must include proof of completion of a relevant bachelor's degree program or another relevant degree program of at least the same level of higher education at a recognized domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution (diploma).

In any case, the Bachelor's degree programs in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and the Bachelor's degree programs in Computer Science at the Vienna University of Technology are eligible. In order to compensate for significant subject-related differences, alternative or additional courses and examinations of a maximum of 30 ECTS credits may be prescribed.

If there is proof of at least 135 completed ECTS credits of a study program, as well as a confirmation of the educational institution about the expected graduation, the subject-related prerequisites in question are considered to be provisionally fulfilled, provided that, due to the curriculum for the pursued study program, the missing subject-related prerequisites (plus 30 ECTS compensation option, as previously described) still have to be completed on a mandatory basis for its graduation.

Stage 2: CV and work samples

The second stage of the admission process consists of uploading work samples and your CV as part of the pre-registration.

The work samples should include work from your previous career that is relevant to the Master's programme in Building Science and Environment. In any case, the work samples must include a text describing the respective sample. In addition, graphic elements (e.g. drawings, diagrams, photos, etc.) must be included in the work samples. The work samples may comprise a maximum of 5 A4 pages, with no more than one work sample per page.

Work samples that do not meet these requirements will result in exclusion from the admission procedure and admission to the programme will not be possible.

To further assess professional and personal suitability, each applicant is required to submit a curriculum vitae. The curriculum vitae must be written in English, should not exceed three A4 pages and must be uploaded by the applicant during the pre-registration. In addition to relevant academic achievements to date, the CV should include a description of relevant work experience.\ CVs that do not meet these requirements will result in exclusion from the admission process and admission to the programme will not be possible.

Stage 3: Online interview

The third stage of the admission process consists of an online interview.

Applicants who have achieved a sufficient number of points in stage two will be invited to an online interview. Please keep the entire two days free. You will then be invited to a specific appointment, which will take a maximum of two hours.

If you are unable to attend the interview, you will be excluded from the admission process and will not be admitted to the programme.

Ranking

The applicants are ranked by the selection committee on the basis of the number of points achieved in the admission procedure and this leads to a ranking. The available study places are awarded to the applicants with the highest number of points. In case of a tie, the selection committee decides on the basis of the available documents.

The method of awarding points and the evaluation scheme will be announced in good time.

Admission

Those applicants who have received a place are entitled to apply for admission to the Master's programme in Building Science and Environment at the TU Wien

until the end of the grace period for the winter and summer semester immediately following the completed selection procedure, provided that they submit the required evidence and meet the other admission requirements. Admission to a later semester is excluded. It is recommended to start in winter semester.

Admission takes place in the Admissions Office.

Students who have not been admitted in one academic year can participate in the selection procedure again in the following academic years.

Students who participate in the selection procedure again must complete it in its entirety each time.
