Selection Procedure

At TU Wien, we want everyone interested in computer science to have the opportunity to study with us, regardless of their educational background. For this reason, the selection procedure does not assess programming skills and does not require any prior experience with computers. Instead, it evaluates your ability to solve problems, think logically, and comprehend texts. The selection procedure takes place only once a year, regardless of whether you plan to start in the winter or summer semester. If you pass the selection procedure, you can complete your admission until the end of the general admission deadline for the winter or summer semester. You must provide the required documents and meet all other admission requirements. Admission is done by the Admission Office.

Bachelor with Honors

As an extension of the standard Bachelor's programmes in Computer Science, Business Informatics, and Technical Computer Science, students with excellent academic performance can earn a Bachelor’s degree with Honours, following the Anglo-American model. The aim of the Honours programme is to support exceptionally talented students individually and to encourage them to engage in academic research at an early stage. Students do not start the Bachelor with Honours in their first semester. Those with outstanding results can apply for admission to the programme after completing their third semester.

The Bachelor with Honours requires an additional 45 to 60 ECTS credits. Students design an individual Honours programme in consultation with a mentor.

Graduates receive not only a certificate for the degree but also a personalised recommendation letter signed by the Rector, confirming that they are among the top students at TU Wien.

Advanced master's programmes

At TU Wien, after completing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, you can enrol in one of the following English-taught Master’s programmes to specialise further:
