The U.S.-India TRUST Fellowship at IIT Madras invites exceptional early-career faculty members and postdoctoral researchers from leading U.S. institutions to contribute to IITM’s vibrant research ecosystem.
Introduction
This collaboration with Pratiksha Trust, Mazumdar-Shaw Philanthropy, and the U.S. Consulate General Chennai, supported through Indian private sector funding, enhances opportunities for U.S. nationals through financial support and global networking and seeks to build a new generation of researchers in and with India.
Program Highlights
- Honorarium
A monthly stipend of ₹1,80,000 from IIT Madras, along with an additional monthly fellowship of USD 1,650 from private donor funding. - Period: Approximately 1 year (July 2026 - June 2027). - Paid Leave: 30 calendar days of annual vacation. - Relocation Support: Economy class round-trip airfare between U.S. city of residence & Chennai, India. - Professional Ecosystem: Access to IITM Research Park, CSR initiatives, and start-up ecosystem.
Program Objectives
- Attract and nurture global research talent.
- Foster academic exchange between the United States and India.
- Enable impactful research outcomes – publications, patents, and solutions.
- Strengthen long-term international partnerships.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizens with little or no prior exposure to India.
- PhD or postdoctoral experience from globally reputed U.S. institutions.
