This is an advanced course on Electrical Networks, focusing primarily on training analog and mixed signal designers in advanced concepts that are encountered in today's VLSI systems. Familiarity with basic linear electrical networks is assumed. At IIT Madras, the prerequisite courses are Electric and Magnetic Circuits & Networks and Systems.

  1. Lecture 1 - Course overview and introduction.
  2. Lecture 2 - Course overview(c0ntd), Linear Time Invariant and Time Varying Systems.
  3. Lecture 3 - LTI, LTV and LPTV systems.
  4. Lecture 4 - LPTV systems (c0ntd), Filter design using the Butterworth approximation.
  5. Lecture 5 - Butterworth Filters (contd), Intuition for pole locations and group delay in high order filters.
  6. Lecture 6 - Opamp-RC biquad derivation from the passive prototype.
  7. Lecture 7 - Volt-sec and Ampere-sec balance, Active-RC and Gm-C biquad topologies, Frequency and Impedance Scaling.
  8. Lecture 8 - Motivation for Dynamic Range Scaling.
