# Jointly Funded Bilateral Mobility Program

The Jointly Funded Bilateral Mobility Program (JFBMP) is an exclusive program with IIT Madras’ valued strategic partners. This flagship program aims to nurture international relationships by promoting Joint Research Programs through attractive mobility funding for students and faculty.

## Program Objectives

- Provide a platform for long-term inbound international students under
  Joint Doctoral Program/Joint Master’s Program with highly reputed
  institutes.
- Offer an opportunity to initiate joint guidance for Master/Ph.D. programs
  Present an opportunity to explore bilateral regional grants.
- Encourage and leverage novel international collaborations via initiating
  research partnerships

## Highlights

- JFBMP is a mobility (assistance) program committed to support the air fare
  (Faculty & student) and living expenses of the IITM faculty & IITM student
  visiting the partner university.
- Each institute will support their researchers' travel and living expenses.
  However, IITM will be able to spend for the partner researcher's living
  expenses at IITM (within the allotted budget) if partner university is
  willing to spend equivalent amount for IITM researchers.
- Mirror funding from partner institution is mandatory for feasibility of
  JFBMP.
- IIT Madras shall contribute up to a maximum funding of USD 50,000/-
  annually for between two (2) to three (3) years. This funding shall be on
  a match-based funding.
- The mobility / living expenses and number of researchers, will have to be
  planned according to the budget allotted
- The number of proposals awarded shall be based on the budget mutually
  committed and shall be decided by the steering committee of both the
  partner institutions. Further extensions to this program can be considered
  provided if there is significant mobility in both directions.
- No per diem is applicable and the allotted budget only can be claimed.
- The funding is valid for a period of 1 year from the date of award letter.

## Application Procedure

Follow these steps to apply for the Jointly Funded Bilateral Mobility Program:

#### Joint Proposal Submission

Faculty Champions from both IIT Madras and Partner University collaborate to jointly submit a proposal demonstrating mutual research interests and commitment.

#### Brief Proposal (6 pages)

Submit a comprehensive proposal including:

- Faculty champions background & resumes
- Scientific rationale for applying for the funding
- Benefits gained at both sides & its future impact
- Requested funding details
- Status of MoU/cotutelle agreements

#### Review & Agreement

The proposal undergoes evaluation:

- Verification of mirror funding condition
- Budget validation within allowed limits
- Faculty committee review of brief proposal
- OGE & Faculty champion initiate meetings with collaborating institution
- Required agreements signed

#### Final Approval

Complete the final stages:

- Call for proposal posted on OGE website
- Detailed proposal submission as per program guidelines
- Faculty committee review of detailed proposal
- OGE notification of proposal status
