### About

Gandham Phanikumar is a Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. He has done his B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering in 1996 from IIT Madras. He obtained his PhD on “Experimental and Computational Studies on Laser Processing of Dissimilar Metals” from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2002. He was a post-doctoral fellow at German Aerospace Centre, Cologne from 2002 to 2005 with a fellowship from BMBF and AvH foundation. He has been on the faculty of Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Madras since 2005. He teaches courses on transport phenomena, thermodynamics of materials, advanced phase transformations, solidification and introduction to scientific computing . His research interests include ICME, Solidification, Welding and Additive Manufacturing.
