The department faculty conduct research on various aspects of aerospace engineering, ranging from theoretical to numerical, including experimental and hardware development. While research is carried out on the traditional disciplines of aerodynamics, structure, flight mechanics and propulsion, the department has evolved three specific verticals of interdisciplinary focus, namely:
