Chemistry is a core science subject that touches almost every aspect of our daily lives and will become increasingly important in our future knowledge-based society. Chemists develop life-saving drugs, medical devices, materials and sensors that can enhance our quality of life and environment beyond measure. \ \ On our Chemistry courses you will build a deep understanding of chemical principles, from molecular structure and reaction mechanisms to analytical and practical laboratory skills, giving you a solid foundation in both theoretical and experimental chemistry. You will also gain transferrable problem-solving, quantitative and research skills that are valuable for careers in science, industry, education, or further studies.\ \ Four-year MChem degrees and five-year MChem (with a Year in Industry) degrees are available for high-calibre students with the ability and aspiration to practice Chemistry at the highest levels.

Professional Accreditations

This course is accredited by the RSC. It fulfils the academic requirements for Chartered Chem (CChem).\ The course is also accredited by the Institute of Chemistry in Ireland.

We regularly consult with, and develop links with, a large number of global employers from a variety of sectors spanning the pharmaceutical industry (including Eli Lilly, MSD, Pfizer, Alexion, Abbvie and GSK), energy (including Shell, Petronas and BP) and Chemicals/Speciality products (Invista, Seagate, and Johnson Matthey). Furthermore, we work with a range of local and start-up/spin-out companies including Northern Ireland Water, Almac, Northern Ireland Water, GLT, ESB, SSE, NIE, Lagan MEICA, Catagen, B9 and Nuada.
