## Careers information for International students

As an International student at Queen’s, Careers, Employability and Skills can help you with questions related to your choice of career path and navigating the recruitment process.

This section highlights the support we provide and useful resources regarding working during and after your studies.

What we do

We offer confidential and impartial career and educational guidance from professionally qualified staff.

While you can access all aspects of the [central careers provision](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/careers-support-for-students/), we recognise that understanding the UK labour market and recruitment process can sometimes be more challenging for International Students. We have collated some specific resources you may find useful.

International Student Employability Programme

The [International Student Employability Programme](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/careers-events/Programmes/international-student-employability-programme/ "International Student Employability Programme ")runs twice every academic year, and aims to explain and demystify the UK recruitment process. It helps you identify your unique skill set,  find labour market information, write effective UK CV’s and cover letters, confidently answer interview questions and succeed on the job.

Accessing MyFuture

Make sure to use your access to [MyFuture](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/HowtoUseMyFuture/), our online careers portal where you can search for jobs, internships and placements. It’s where you can [book a place on programmes](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/careers-events/Programmes/), [attend events](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/careers-events/), and book a [one-to-one careers consultation](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/AboutUs/CareersConsultants/). It’s where you will find out about [employer networking sessions and](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/careers-events/Programmes/meet-the-employers-events/) the Visa Information Session which happens in Semester One.

This support is in addition to careers activities and support provided within your academic school.

Work During Your Studies

Finding paid work directly related to your studies on a part-time basis may be difficult depending on your timetable and sector preference. However, any work experience in the UK demonstrates language ability and understanding company culture, skills gained in a variety of non-graduate level jobs. Useful places to check include [QWork](https://www.q-work.co.uk/),  [MyFuture](https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/sgc/careers/HowtoUseMyFuture/) for part time and on campus jobs, and [NIJobs,](https://www.nijobs.com/) [nijobfinder](https://www.nijobfinder.co.uk/) and [JobApplyNI](https://www.jobapplyni.com/). Remember to check the individual conditions of your own visa.

The Immigration Support Service team have created a thorough resource answering questions around  [Working In The UK As A Student](https://www.qub.ac.uk/sites/iss/WhileYoureHere/WorkingintheUK/).
