RWTH Aachen University is an active member of the global academic community and a hub for transformative ideas, careers, and innovations. Guided by a commitment to internationally recognized excellence in research and teaching, the University prepares students to thrive as global citizens and leaders in an interconnected world.

Our approach to internationalization emphasizes responsible partnership and sustainable collaboration, with Europe as a dynamic foundation for global engagement. Through inclusive programming and strong internal support systems, we ensure that every member of the RWTH community – students, faculty, and staff – has access to meaningful international experiences and opportunities for cross-cultural exchange.

Internationalization at RWTH is a shared responsibility. Alongside the Vice-Rector for International Affairs , key contributors include the International Office, the rector’s delegates for collaboration with select countries, our study abroad coordinators, and RWTH’s liaison offices in Bejing and New Delhi. Together, they support strategic partnerships and advance collaboration across continents.

Our long-term commitment to internationalization has been formally recognized. In 2021, RWTH successfully completed the Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions audit conducted by the German Rectors’ Conference.

Building on this solid foundation, the Internationalization Strategy 2030, launched in July 2025, charts our path forward. This strategy aims to strengthen European cooperation, shape global collaboration responsibly, and broaden opportunities for international experience and successful integration.

Through initiatives that support international recruitment, foster a welcoming campus culture, and create long-term prospects for staying, RWTH is positioning itself as a truly global university.
