  1. Secondary school leaving certificate (with an overview of subjects and grades/transcript) AND\
  2. Proof of a college entrance examination (College Scholastic Ability Test) OR\
  3. Proof of 1 successful year of study OR\
  4. Proof of an Associate Degree (Jeonmun Haksa)

Requirements for Recognition as a University Entrance Qualification, in Short HZB

A subject-specific University Entrance Qualification (subject area according to the university entrance examination) exists if the following requirements have been met:

1.The leaving certificate of a general secondary school in conjunction with the university entrance examination provides direct subject-oriented access to all universities for the subjects demonstrated in the university entrance examination and related subjects, provided that the following conditions are met:

In the university entrance examination, a score of at least 5 must have been achieved in mathematics and a language as well as a general education subject from the elective area of social sciences or natural sciences and in the university entrance examination, an overall average score of at least 4.4 must have been achieved in all test subjects (for university entrance examinations from 2008).

In addition, evidence must be provided of a successful year of study in the context of a regular bachelor's level degree program of at least four years (Haksa) at a recognized university and a certificate of completion from a general secondary school alongside a university entrance examination and an associate degree (Jeonmun Haksa) (evidence of a successfully completed short course of study of at least two years at a recognized junior college (Jeonmun Daehak)).

Additional Information

If you do not meet the subject-specific requirements for admission, but have successfully completed one year of academic study at a recognized university, you can be admitted to a preparatory college or to the assessment test (FSP/Feststellungsprüfung).
