The fields of responsibility and advising services include:

Advising and Support for Secondary School Students and Prospective Students

Secondary school students and other prospective students residing in Germany and fluent in the language can reach out to the designated advising team for guidance on degree programs, course offerings, admission requirements, course content, and the application and enrollment process. We also provide informative presentations and workshops on these topics, organize student orientation days, and participate in trade fairs.

Our initiatives for teachers and schools support the process of choosing a field of study throughout the academic year as part of events tailored for school groups.

Talent Scouting is an additional initiative offered by the student advising centers of RWTH and FH Aachen. Under this program, talent scouts support accomplished high school students from non-academic families in the Aachen city region and the districts of Düren, Heinsberg, and Euskirchen throughout their educational journey.

Programs for Secondary School Students

Prospective students can experience university life at RWTH through a variety of programs. Our faculties host numerous taster events in specific academic fields, catering to both individual secondary school students and groups.

Advising for RWTH Students

Students are encouraged to reach out to the Student Counseling and Advising Center for guidance on all academic matters. The team conducts presentations and workshops on various topics, including addressing concerns about students’ choice of degree program, changing majors, or charting a different career path. Additionally, students can address immediate concerns and questions during open office hours or schedule individual advising appointments for personalized support. We also offer a wide range of workshops and lectures in addition to personalized advising sessions.

Psychological Counseling

The psychological counseling team provides guidance and assistance to students facing challenges that impact their academic pursuits. This support is offered through individual counseling sessions and group workshops. Additionally, the team provides continuous professional support to RWTH student advisors and mentors.

Advising for Prospective and Enrolled Students With Disabilities or Chronic Illnesses

The Student Counseling and Advising Service includes a dedicated team that provides guidance for prospective and enrolled students with disabilities or chronic illnesses. The Representatives for Inclusive Studies (BIS) play a crucial role in offering information and counsel on inclusive studies, advocating for the interests of affected students in university committees, and leading projects to enhance support for this student community.
