Application for a German or English Language Master’s Course of Study
Please note the application deadlines listed further down this page. Applications are only accepted during specific periods and cannot be submitted outside of these times.
Before you start your application, make sure you have all the required documents ready as PDF files. You’ll find a list of the required documents further down this page.
Once you have your PDFs ready, fill out the online application form. You can access the form by clicking the yellow box labeled Online Application at the top right of this page.
Required Documents
Please upload the following documents as PDFs at the end of your application:
- Copy of your transcript of records or your diploma supplement. Please submit a transcript of records with all the semesters you have studied. When you apply you have to be able to provide grades for all the semesters you have studied except your last two semesters of study.
- A module catalog or course descriptions of all the courses you completed in your studies. If these are available on your university’s webpage, you can also upload a PDF that shows the link to this page. If you do not, or cannot upload a module catalog, the respective Examination Board will still review your application for your eligibility for your chosen course(s) of study. Your application may however have to be rejected due to your missing module catalog.
- If you are applying to start in an higher course semester (“advanced standing”): a copy of your final academic transcript (e.g., bachelor’s degree transcript) and a transcript from your master’s level studies.
- Resume (list format)
- You may need to upload additional documents if they are required by the examination board of your master’s program (e.g., proof of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Test AS). Please note that you must enable your test results to be verified online so that the submitted test can be deemed to be complete. For the GRE, you must instruct ETS to accept RWTH Aachen University as the recipient. The institution code that you will need is 8504. If you are asked for a department code, please select the code for “all departments.”
Please check the webpages for your chosen course(s) of study carefully to find out if you need to submit any additional documents in your application.
Translation of Your Documents
If your documents were not issued in German or English, you must have a certified translator translate them into either German or English. The copies do not need to be notarized. Please note that in such cases, the copy of the translation or the copy of the original alone is insufficient – make sure to upload both!
