The information below is aimed at applicants holding a qualifying degree acquired in Denmark.

Once you have submitted your application, DTU evaluates your academic qualifications and your ability to complete the MSc programme successfully. The evaluation is based on the documents you have submitted.

Once the MSc Admissions Office receives the academic evaluation, we will inform you of the result.

What if important documents are missing in my application?

If you have not uploaded all of the required documents, do not worry. If any documents are missing in your application, you will be notified via the application portal. This will allow you to upload any missing documentation.

What are the possible outcomes of my application?

You can receive one of four decisions from DTU:

1) Admission

You can be offered unconditional admission. This means that you meet all DTU’s admission requirements.

You will only be offered admission to your highest priority where you qualify for admission. This means that you will not be offered admission to all your priorities.

If you have applied to more than one programme, we can process your other priorities if you change your mind after you have been offered a place. Please contact us by email on kandidatopt@adm.dtu.dk about this.

2) Conditional admission subject to compliance with admission requirements

If you have a relevant qualifying examination, but have not completed your degree and/or met other requirements, you can be offered conditional admission.

If you take your qualifying degree at DTU, we will continually follow up on whether you have completed your study programme during August/September (summer intake) and January/February (winter intake). You must be unconditionally admitted by the deadlines specified.

If you do not complete your BSc/BEng programme at DTU, you should apply for a transitional semester as quickly as possible.

If your qualifying degree is from another university/another educational institution, you must send us documentation that you have completed the study programme to kandidatopt@adm.dtu.dk by the deadlines specified.

You must complete your qualifying degree before the study start on the MSc programme. You will receive additional information in your letter of admission.

3) Conditional admission subject to supplementary educational activities

If you have a relevant qualifying degree, but you do not meet all the prerequisites for admission to the MSc programme, you can be offered conditional admission. Please be aware that this does not constitute admission to the MSc programme.

The academic prerequisites that have not yet been met cannot exceed 30 ECTS credits. A participation fee is charged for the courses. You must pass the courses before the study start of the MSc programme to which you are applying for admission.

Your admission letter will state which courses you need to take. You will then have one year to pass the courses, i.e. if you apply for admission as of September 2026, your conditional admission will apply until September 2027.

Once you have registered for the exam for the courses you need to pass, you must apply for admission again (your application from the last round will not be transferred to the next round).

4) Rejection

This means that you do not meet DTU’s admission requirements. The reason for your rejection will be stated in your letter of rejection.

Accommodation

Boligfonden DTU assists new international full-degree students with a qualifying degree from outside of Denmark in finding accommodation.

This does not include students who have already acquired their qualifying degree in Denmark.

You are welcome to contact Boligfonden DTU to see if they may have available housing in case you need it.
