The MSc Eng in Communication Technologies and System Design has five specializations:

Specializations

Communication systems are very complex and combine a number of engineering desciplines such as software, electronics and protocols design. Depending on the area of specialization, a number of other fields are needed, e.g., machine learning, physics, computer simulation, signal processing, advanced mathematics and statistics, just to mention a few.

To guide the students, we have designed five "packages" with a set of courses to choose from. A short description of  the study is available below. To see the full description - follow the links in the headlines.

Specializations\ Students may specialise by following one of the specializations. Specializations are optional (the student is admitted to the programme, not to an individual specialization), but students following fulfilling the requirements earn the right to get the specialization on their diplomas. You must contact the Head of Studies once you register your Master's Thesis project in order for the specialization to be mentioned on your diploma. If you do not wish to follow a specific specialization, you still need to make sure that you fulfill the requirements listed in the Curriculum with respect to General compentence and Technological specialization courses and mandatory courses.

There are five exciting specializations to choose from:

High-speed Communication

Signal processing, Coding and Visual communication

Mobile/wireless communicaton and Internet of Things

Cloud and Cybersecurity

Communication hardware design and programming

Please note that the recommended semester programs for each specialization are designed to fulfill the requirements listed in the Curriculum. If you chose to replace any of the courses with other courses on the list, you must make sure that you still fulfill the requirements of this Master's program listed in the Curriculum. Please see the Curriculum for details with regards to mandatory courses for the CTSD M.Sc. programme.

Specializations are merely recommended ways of choosing the courses in the curriculum. Applicants are not admitted to a specialization but to the programme and it is possible to choose among all the courses in the curriculum following the directions given. However, if a specialization has been fulfilled the title of the specialization may be added to the diploma.
