Multidisciplinary Museum Activities for Primary and Secondary School Students on HKU Campus (NEW)
Background of Co-organiser
The HKU Museums Group is a consortium of four museums present on HKU main campus: the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum (HKBM), the Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole (Petite Ecole), the Stephen Hui Geological Museum (SHGM), and the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG). Each museum welcome tens of thousands of visitors yearly. The museums are now joining forces to offer a new educational program to primary and secondary students across Hong Kong.
Objectives
During this project, interns will have the opportunity to develop educational material for the age group of their choice (from 4 to 18 years old) and a new program targeting Hong Kong Public Schools to organize educational tours including the four main museums on HKU campus (see above). This multidisciplinary program combines both sciences and humanities should include the visit around a central theme while developing specific thematic to each museum (e.g. geology, biodiversity, arts, literature…).
This is a unique opportunity to develop a program reaching thousands of students across Hong Kong. The student should thus have a strong enthusiasm for interdisciplinarity, curiosity, creativity and excellent communication skills to meet and discuss with all partners of this project.
Project Details
Interns will be working on the content and logistic development of this program to ultimately approach school directors and enrol students and teachers to participate.
Project involved during the EL period and timeline:

The project is expected to last approximately five weeks and include off-site and on-site work at the museums. On-site work will be scheduled during the school holidays and specific service dates are negotiable.

HKU campus within the premises of the four museums – space within the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum provided if needed

Eligibility
- PGDE (full-time) students of all majors – Student should show strong motivation for this unique project
- Students with high motivation and enthusiasm are very welcome
- Students interested in working at the intersection of multiple disciplines are particularly welcome. In addition, the programme could be developed for a particular age group, depending on the intern's interests, with a multidisciplinary approach.
- Excellent levels of English and Cantonese languages, both spoken and written are required. Abilities to speak in Mandarin a plus.
