**Notes:**

As stipulated on the syllabuses, prior academic qualification will be considered for the following pre-requisite courses of majors/minors:

- Chinse Language and Literature: From cohorts 2021-22 onwards, students must attain a Level 5 or above in either Chinese Language or Chinese Literature in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination, or an equivalent standard in another public examination, for admission to the pre-requisite courses.
- Translation (applicable to cohorts 2024-25 or before): A Level 5 or above in both English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination is required for admission to CHIN1311. For non-JUPAS applicants, a hard copy of their equivalent qualifications (such as IB Diploma, AD/HD transcripts) shall be submitted to the Head of School of Chinese for consideration.
- Translation: From cohorts 2025-26 onwards, a Level 5 or above in both Chinese and English in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination is required for admission to CHIN1311. Applicants with a Level 5\*\* in HKDSE English but a Level 4 in HKDSE Chinese, or vice versa, as well as those holding other qualifications, will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis. Non-JUPAS applicants must submit a copy of their equivalent qualifications (such as IB Diploma, AD/HD or Gaokao transcripts) to the Course Instructor for consideration.
- English Studies: Admission to all ENGL and LCOM introductory courses is on the basis of academic record including a minimum Level 5 in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination, or an equivalent score in another recognized English proficiency test.
