# HSBC Social Work Scholarships

## On the Donor
HSBC has been at the forefront of supporting Hong Kong youth and communities in preparing for their future through scholarship schemes since 1965. The objective of the Scholarship is to foster the growth of the social work profession by recognising exceptional social work students and providing them with the necessary support to embark on a life-long career as social workers, benefiting the broader Hong Kong community.
## Purpose and Scope
The Scholarship shall be awarded to local full-time undergraduate students who demonstrate proven academic ability and strong financial need:
- have achieved good academic results (CGPA of 3.7);\
- determination to develop a career as a social worker in Hong Kong;
- enrolment in a programme recognised by the Social Workers Registration Board;
- demonstrate diverse interdisciplinary interests and knowledge complementary to the social work profession;
- Good demonstration of communication skills;
- Expects to complete a minimum of 16 hours of volunteering or community service during the following academic year to positively contribute to the community
- Has not previously received the HSBC Social Work Scholarship
Other criteria shall be taken into consideration: with genuine interest in social work as a career, demonstration of diverse interdisciplinary interests and knowledge
complementary to the social work profession, character, motivation, personality, and sense of responsibility.
