Eligibility Criteria

Students must: 

In the event of high demand, preference may be given to applicants from households where the annual taxable income is lower than £35,000pa*** 

These scholarships will provide three years’ funding for each of the taught years.  

Students on a four-year course, including a year in industry or a year abroad, will be eligible; however, funding will only be available for the three taught years. Students on a degree apprenticeship course will not be eligible 

*To be eligible for the ‘Home’ rate of fees students must normally be a UK national and be ordinarily resident in the UK on the first day of the first academic year and ordinarily resident in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the specified British Overseas Territories or the Channel Islands for three years before the first day of the first academic year of your course. Generally, if a student is a UK national who has lived all of their life in the UK, they will pay fees at the Home rate. 

**To be defined as those who select one of the following UCAS ethnicity codes in their application: Black – Caribbean; Black – African; Black – Other; White/Black Caribbean; White/Black African. 

***As assessed by Student Finance England. In order to be assessed, applicants must have made an application to their regional student funding authority, for income assessed UK government financial support for higher education students (the regional student funding authorities are: Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland and the Student Awards Agency for Scotland). If the applicant wishes to have this taken into account as part of the selection process, it is essential that this application for income assessment is made prior to submitting a scholarship application.

Application process

Using no more than 1,000 words, please submit an essay on the following: discuss ways to align the financial system with environmental sustainability. The essay submitted must not exceed 1,000 words, including all text, diagrams, figures, tables and references. Essays exceeding this length will not be reviewed.

Applicants should ensure they are available for an interview during the week commencing 10 November 2025. The exact day will be confirmed. Interviews may take place remotely.
