Queen Mary has an agreement with ANID Becas Chile (formerly known as CONICYT), which allows us to offer funding for postgraduate students (Master’s and PhDs).This co-funded scholarship is available across all of our full-time Masters and PhD programmes.

Our agreement means that Queen Mary is able to offer a 20% tuition fee discount to scholars, with ANID contributing towards the remaining fee. ANID will also provide scholars with a stipend, return airfare, one-off relocation/settlement allowance, as well as a health insurance contribution. Application Process and Further Information

Please visit the ANID website for information about the scholarships and how to apply. 

Students must meet the standards required by ANID, as well as all entry requirements for admissions to their chosen Queen Mary programme in order to be eligible for the scholarship.

Applicants must first apply to Queen Mary for admission to their chosen course, and receive an offer letter, before submitting a scholarship application to ANID. Offer letters can only be conditional on English Language requirements.

• Upon applying to Queen Mary, applicants should state that they are applying for ANID Becas Chile funding.
• It can take 6-8 weeks for PhD applications to be processed. Applicants are therefore encouraged to apply as early as possible.

Rosario Espinoza Jeraldo.

Rosario is currently studying for her PhD in the Wolfson Institute.

“The PhD programme in Wolfson Institute of Population Health was my first option when applying to continue my studies in London after finishing my Master's degree. I had the chance to meet researchers and staff during the annual Showcase in 2022, and I was impressed with how friendly and collaborative the teams within the Institute were. My research interests have to do with aging, mental health, dementia, and preventive strategies, so naturally having the chance to learn from and work next to different experts across the fields of neurology, epidemiology, public health and Psychiatry was a priority. This remains not only a crucial part of my work here but also proably my favorite thing about being part of the WIPH.

This would not have been possible without BECAS Chile. The scholarship has enabled me to both live in London and conduct research on a project that is truly of my interest, but also of national/global significance”
