What you'll study

You will study two 30-credit modules, one on public international and European air transport law and one on private international and European air transport law. Each module consists of ten three-hour classes.

Upon graduation, students will be able to work confidently in the area of aviation law or continue their studies to obtain a PhD in aviation law. In addition, graduates of the programme will have the option to use the 60 credits earned towards obtaining an LLM in any specialisation.

Structure

The award of a Postgraduate Certificate requires successful completion (attendance and assessment) of 60 credits of study.

This programme commences in January and is taught over one semester.

Modules

On this programme, you'll study two aviation law modules:

Assessment

The assessment is by means of a short essay and an oral presentation.

Students have the opportunity to perform a formative assessment and receive extensive feedback prior to submitting their essay and delivering their presentation.

Teaching

You will be taught with a mixture of formal lectures and small group seminars. The seminars are designed to generate informed discussion around set topics, and may involve student presentations and group exercises as well as open discussion.

Dr Lykotrafiti worked for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on transport policy issues. Campus

Teaching is based at the School of Law's postgraduate centre and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS), located in Lincoln's Inn Fields. This area is home to numerous barristers’ chambers and law firms and is a short walk from the Royal Courts of Justice. Our academics and students interact with leading legal professionals, many of whom regularly teach and take part in our seminars and conferences.

Depending on the modules you choose, you may also have classes at the Mile End Campus or the University of London's Institute of Advanced Legal Studies or Charterhouse Square.

Entry requirements

UK

Degree requirements

A 2:1 or above at undergraduate level in Law or a degree with substantial law content.

Law graduates with a 2:2 honours degree who also have other legal qualifications and/or substantial professional legal experience may also qualify.

Other routes

Non-law graduates with a minimum second class honours degree, that have also obtained a Merit (or 60 per cent) in the Common Professional Examination (CPE) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) recognised by the UK professional bodies, may also qualify. Non-law graduates may also be considered on the basis of exceptional professional experience (of at least five years) in a legal area or an area directly related to their programme of study.

The English language requirements for our programmes are normally indicated by an English band assigned to the academic department within which your chosen course of study is administered.
