You’ve been conditionally admitted? Congratulations! Find out how and when you must meet your admission conditions. It is essential that Leiden University receives your documents on time and in the correct way.

How to meet your admission conditions

To meet your admission conditions, take the following 4 steps before the deadlines stated below:

#### **Step 1:** **Read your decision statement carefully**

Check which items are required to meet your admission conditions.

#### **Step 2: Upload all items in the online application system (uSis)**

On the 'Admission Decision' screen in [uSis](https://usis.leidenuniv.nl), upload a digital copy of all items listed under 'Admission conditions' in your decision statement.

#### **Step 3: Enable verification of your academic records**

Often you must take additional steps to enable Leiden University to verify your academic records. If this is required, it will be stated on your decision statement under 'Enable verification of academic records'. Before completing this step, carefully read the information on**[Verification of academic records](https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/education/international-students/prepare-your-stay/meet-admission-conditions/verification-of-academic-records)**. Note that this step is generally *not* required for incoming exchange students.

#### Step 4: Complete additional admission procedures - if applicable

Have you applied for a bachelor's or master's programme with limited places or compulsory matching? If so, this will be mentioned on your decision statement. In this case, meeting your conditions does *not* guarantee you a place. There are additional admission procedures in place. See your [study programme website](https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/education/study-programmes?pageNumber=1&type=bachelor&type=master) for details.

Deadline to meet admission conditions

#### **If you do *not* need a student visa or residence permit**

- You must meet all admission conditions before the start date of your study programme (1 September or 1 February).

#### **If you need a student visa or residence permit**

- You must meet all admission conditions before the [visa/residence permit deadline (1 June or 1 December)](https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/education/international-students/prepare-your-stay/visa-and-residence-permit).

Documents to meet conditions issued after deadline?

Will the documents required to meet your admission conditions only be issued *after* the above-mentioned deadline? Follow the instructions on the **[Documents to meet conditions issued after deadline page](https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/education/international-students/prepare-your-stay/meet-admission-conditions/documents-issued-after-deadline)**.

What happens after I complete all steps to meet conditions?

- Once we receive your certified documents or online verification information, we will verify your academic records. This may take several weeks at busy times of year (April to July).\
  \
***After sending your documents/information:** please patiently await the verification process and refrain from sending additional enquiries as this will slow down our processing times. Thank you for your understanding. Please be assured that if your documents are submitted in time and meet all requirements, the long verification period will not impact the start of your studies.*\
- Once your academic records have been verified, this will be indicated on the ‘Admission decision screen’ in [uSis](https://usis.leidenuniv.nl).
- After verification and if you have met all other admission conditions (if applicable), you will receive an unconditional decision statement by email.
- If your certified documents do not meet requirements or we are unable to complete online verification, we will notify you by email.
