International Children’s Rights (Advanced LL.M.)
Career preparation
As a graduate, you will be prepared to address the legal issues that impact the rights of children across the globe by working with international and national organisations such as:
- governmental and inter-governmental bodies
- the judiciary
- law firms
- advisory bodies
- human rights institutions
- NGOs
- academia
You will be prepared to work in various fields affecting children, including:
- child protection
- education
- health
- migration
- juvenile justice
- human rights
- social development
Many of our graduates also contribute to legal scholarship in the field of children’s rights by pursuing postgraduate or PhD research.
Career services
Our teaching staff has an extensive international professional and academic network and can help you in your career orientation. One of the biggest assets you will have in your career is your professional network. Through your interactions with professionals in the classroom, as well as during your study trip, site visits, and internship, you will begin to build your own international network. These contacts could greatly enhance your career prospects, as they often help with job leads and recommendations.
Every year, special Career workshops are organised for all advanced master’s students including presentations and trainings.’ This is supported by the student career service of Leiden University which offers a wide range of services including communication training, CV checks and workshops on job application techniques.
After graduation, non-European students have the opportunity to stay for an extra year while looking for work. They can apply for a residence permit.
