# Career Planning

Welcome to the Career Planning module! This module was developed by the Leiden University Career Services to support you in exploring the labour market and finding a suitable job.

In the Career Planning module, you’ll go through the entire career orientation process in a series of steps, receiving information and assignments at each step. \

After an introduction on Career Planning, you’ll work on the following steps:

## [Step 1. Know Yourself](#heading_62303_62304)

In**Step 1. Know Yourself,** you will delve into several aspects of yourself and formulate your Personal Profile, based on factors such as:

- Competencies
- Interests (career choice)
- Personality
- Work values
- Group roles

## [Step 2. Explore the labour market](#heading_62303_62305)

In **Step 2. Explore the labour market**you will investigate what kind of job you would like and where. You will then develop a (Career) Profile, your 'own labour market':

- (Career) profile
- Networking

## [Step 3. Developing your (job application) skills](#heading_62303_62306)

In **Step 3. Developing your (job application) skills** you will focus on the necessary application skills, such as:

- Curriculum vitae
- LinkedIn profile
- Cover letter
- Elevator pitch
- Job interview
- Assessments
- Employment conditions

## [Step 4. Find a job (vacancy)](#heading_62303_62307)

In **Step 4. Find a job (vacancy)** you will learn more about job search strategies and job placement.

By the end of the module, you will have developed a personal profile (self-awareness) and a (career) profile (insight into your own job market), developed application skills and know how to best search for a job. You will complete the module with an **action plan**. \

**For whom? / access (ULCN)**\
The Career Planning module is accessible to students, as well as to study advisors, lecturers, and tutors of Leiden University who work with students and wish to use this module. Young alumni can also use all the information and tools in the LU Career Zone. \
The module is accessible via ULCN account.
