# A day in the life

What is it like to study International Studies in The Hague? Read how Vincent, student of International Studies, spends his day on average.

| 09:00 | I get up, take a shower and have breakfast. Today my first lecture doesn not start that early, so I get to sleep in a little bit. |
| 10:00 | I take the train from Beverwijk, where I live, to The Hague. I get my books out and do some studying. |
| 10:55 | It's just a five minute walk from the train station to the university building, so I have time to grab a coffee with friends before the lecture starts. |
| 11:15 | Today's lecture is about politics. The professor talks about how and why civil protests start, and when a get-together is defined as a protest and when it is a demonstration. |
| 13:00 | I walk to the building close by for a tutorial on Russian language acquisition. Our teacher first asks us to talk about our weekend in Russian. I tell my fellow students that I studied quite a lot over the weekend, having set myself the goal to improve my Russian even more. |
| 15:15 | I have a quick late lunch, and go on to my tutorial on Russian history. Today I am giving a presentation on the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church during the Soviet era. |
| 17:00 | After the tutorial in our group we have a discussion about some of the assignments we need to do. For me it's getting late, and I have to hurry to catch my train home. |
| 19:00 | I'm home and take the car to go to my martial arts training. There's no time to have dinner, but I'll eat something later, after my work-out. |
| 22:00 | Before going to bed, I do some reading for an assignment later in the week. It's almost midnight by the time I turn the lights off. |
