Studying abroad is a huge decision in a student's career. It involves significant social, academic and financial efforts.

In order to help international students in deciding whether studying at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ghent University (UGent-FEA) fits their profile and background, the faculty has set up an advising system based on the results of a GRE-test.

As of academic year 2023-2024, it is mandatory to submit the result of the Quantitative Reasoning component of the General Test. \ Without this, applications will not be assessed/evaluated and as such, admission will be denied. However, the result of the test is not binding towards being granted admission or not.

About the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)

GRE is a standardised test on verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing that measures readiness to pursue graduate-level programs. The GRE is available in two categories: the GRE General Test and the GRE Subject Tests. GRE scores are valid for five years following your test date. More info can be found on the GRE website.

Admission to UGent-FEA

To make a decision on the applicant's eligibility to be granted admission to the FEA study programmes, the relevant study programme committee will take the GRE scores into consideration. The study programme committee will take a final decision based on all components in an applicant's file, including but not limited to the study record, CV, motivation letter, certificates and diplomas etc.

Indicative GRE scores for FEA applicants

Based on thorough research, FEA has decided to base the evaluation of an applicant's GRE score for the Quantitative Reasoning component of the GRE General Test on this scale:
