Through the Erasmus+ programme it is possible to visit Ghent University to teach guest lectures, attend a training or do a study visit.

Possible Activities and Requirements
Teaching at Ghent University as a guest lecturer with an Erasmus+ Scholarship -
STA – Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignment
- An inter-institutional Erasmus+ agreement – per subject area – between your home university and Ghent University has to be in place. Please contact the international office of your home university for this. The FCI administrator of Ghent University can verify the agreement.
- If you are not invited by a Ghent University professor, you have to find your contact yourself. Use your network, get in touch with your own colleagues or check out our Research Explorer Database in order to find a match.
- A teaching activity has to comprise a minimum of 2 days (minimum 8 hours of teaching). If the teaching is combined with a training activity during a single period abroad, the minimum of hours of teaching/week (or shorter stay) is reduced to 4 hours. The maximum duration is 2 months (excluding travel time).
- A Mobility Agreement (Staff Mobility for Teaching) has to be completed before the mobility takes place. In this agreement you have to clarify your objectives, the added value, the teaching assignment and the expected outcome(s) of your mobility. The agreement has to be signed by the Ghent University professor with whom you are in touch and has to be approved in your home institution according your internal procedures (e.g. head of department or head or IRO or dean etc.). The mobility agreement is an annex of the grant agreement you have to conclude with your home institution.
Attending a Training at Ghent University with an Erasmus+ scholarship – STT – Staff Mobility for Training
- Every year the International Office (in collaboration with other Ghent University offices) organizes a staff training event. The topics vary, subjects of previous staff trainings are: Preparing our students for the job market, Taking care of international students, Using digital tools in Internationalisation, International Quality Assurance…
- The Staff Training usually takes place in Spring or Fall and lasts 2 to 3 days. All detailed information (application procedure, timing etc) is published on the Imotion Website in due time.
- The topic of the staff training has to be related to your professional development and it has to address your learning and personal development needs. If you are selected to attend the staff training, you will have to clarify your objectives, the added value of the training, the activities planned and the expected outcome(s) in the mobility agreement (Staff Mobility for Training) which is part of the (grant) agreement you have to sign at your home institution. The Mobility agreement has to be signed by the Ghent University counterpart with whom you are in touch and has to be approved in your institution according to your internal procedures (e.g. head of department or head or IRO or dean etc.).
Study visit or Job shadowing at Ghent with an Erasmus+ scholarship – STT – Staff Mobility for Training
- The study visit or job shadowing has to be related to your professional development and it has to address your learning and personal development needs.
- If you are not invited by a Ghent University staff member, you have to find your contact yourself. Use your network or get in touch with your own colleagues to find your match.
- The visit can be from 2 days to 2 months, excluding travel time.
- A Mobility Agreement (Staff Mobility for Training) has to be completed before the mobility takes place. In this agreement you have to describe your objectives, the added value, the training activities and the expected outcome(s) of your exchange. The agreement has to be signed by your Ghent University contact with whom you are in touch. The mobility agreement is an annex of the grant agreement you have to conclude with your home institution and has to be approved in your institution according your internal procedures (e.g. head of department or head or IRO or dean etc.).
Allowance
Check your home institution for detailed information on the procedure to apply for an Erasmus grant. With your Erasmus+ grant you can receive financial support to cover your travel costs and costs of stay.
Administrative Obligations
- Please contact the International Office of your home institution to check all administrative obligations with regard to your Erasmus+ scholarship.
- Inform the FCI Administrator and An Van Laeken of Ghent University about your upcoming visit.
