## Finding your way before and upon arrival
The IRO Student Support assists international students in finding their way at Ghent University **before and upon arrival**. The IRO Student Advisers provide information and meet the specific needs of international students.

## Administration
- To stimulate students to take responsibility for their study progress, in Flanders a system of [learning account](https://www.ugent.be/student/en/resolveuid/d47bbae1bcfbabd78828f0207e1d6fdd "Learning account") has been established. This may affect all students.
- There are binding conditions and [measures for study progress monitoring](https://www.ugent.be/student/en/resolveuid/a8aaec2f6dbc49b4b69e2d74649203d4) whereby re-enrolment can be refused.

## Study skills & mental health

## Medical service
Inform your faculty when you're absent due to illness for a longer period or when you are missing obligated study activities. Request a letter from a doctor and hand it in at your [Faculty Student Administration](https://www.ugent.be/student/en/resolveuid/f950a6fcbd03dc63c397b9107ab8235f).
A specific medical service for students is available, run by general practitioners well-acquainted with the **medical needs** of students.

## After your studies
After graduation, most students find their way to the labour market. Others prefer to **continue their studies** in Belgium or choose for research within the framework of a PhD.
