Payment requests and refunds are mailed to the student and take place at fixed times during the academic year: after enrolment, first week of December, mid March, first week of May and first week of June. Within these fixed moments your tuition fee can change due to several reasons. Please make no higher payment than the amount asked on the payment request.

Pay your tuition fee online or by transfer

After enrolment you get a mail with a pay button to pay your tuition fee online.\ After the payment is done, the payment button will turn green and a confirmation mail will be sent to the student.

If you prefer to pay by transfer than all information can be found on the same payment request as for the online payment.\ Don't forget to mention the payment reference.

On Oasis you can check your account balance before and after you make the payment.\ It takes at least 3 to 5 working days to register the payment. Payments from abroad may take a little longer (up to 10 days).

Billing progress

  1. Upon enrolment you will receive a standard payment request mostly for 60 credits or based on an estimation of credits your still need to take.
  2. If your enrolment or the amount of credits changes during the academic year, you will receive by mail a new payment request (with an adjusted tuition fee) in the first week of December, mid March, first week of May or first week of June.

A payment request is always addressed to the student

If your company or employer wants to pay your tuition fee they can do so by using the reference mentioned on the payment request.

You can also make the payment yourself and ask for a proof of payment by sending an email to studiegeld@ugent.be.

This proof of payment can then be used as an expense report.

FYI: there is no VAT on the tuition fee. Therefore it is unnecessary to mention the name and VAT number of the company on the payment request.

Sanction in case you do not pay

For each enrolment there is a tuition fee to be paid

Please note that stopping your studies does not release you from the obligation to pay the tuition fees.

If you do not pay, either in part or in full, you will among other not be able to re-enrol.\ Any obtained credit certificates, diplomas or certificates will not be awarded until the full amount owed has been paid.

Proof of Payment

You can request a proof of payment by sending an e-mail to studiegeld@ugent.be

It will be mailed on one of the fixed moments: first week of December, mid March, first week of May or first week of June.

Always mention your student number and the academic year.
