Direct admission

If your diploma is listed here-below, you will need to start up your enrolment application online. You will be required to upload a certified true copy (copy conforme)of this diploma and its transcripts. Your diploma is considered equivalent to the Flemish diploma of secondary education and admission will be approved from as soon as your enrolment application is complete.

You need to ensure that you meet the language requirements too.

Note that certain programmes require you to participate in a positioning test or that you have passed the entrance examination and have obtained favourable ranking.

General principle

If your qualification allows you to enrol in the same programme in your home country, you may be eligible to apply for that programme at Ghent University.\ However, when your diploma is not on the list of direct admission, we must check whether it is equivalent in level to the Flemish secondary education qualification (OK4). This means your diploma should demonstrate similar skills and competencies.

What happens if it is not equivalent?

Most diplomas that are not on the list are not considered equivalent.\ In that case, you will need to provide proof of at least one successful year of university-level studies in addition to your secondary school diploma.

What does “one successful year” mean?

Tip: If you are unsure whether your diploma qualifies, you should still submit a complete application. Our Team International admission team will evaluate your documents.

The application must include one of the following:
