UC Davis Transfer Admission Guarantee requirements

The UC Davis Transfer Admission Guarantee, known as TAG, is a written agreement that guarantees admission to UC Davis in a specific major from any California Community College, or CCC.

All majors except Computer Science and Data Science are open to TAG. Students interested in these majors must apply through the UC application (open October through November) and meet selective major requirements.

Transfer students may apply to the business major during the 2026 application cycle for fall 2027 enrollment. Check assist.org for specific major requirements. Note, TAG is not available for the business major.

Pass or Credit grades are only allowed in lieu of letter grades for coursework in winter, spring and summer 2020 terms. Refer to the additional selective major TAG requirements in the corresponding areas below.

Apply for a TAG

  1. Use the UC Transfer Admission Planner, known as TAP, to start your TAG application.
  2. Review it with your community college counselor or UC Davis advisor.
  3. Submit the TAG application by Sept. 30 via UC TAP.
  4. Review your TAG decision after mid-November.
  5. Submit the UC undergraduate application by the Dec. 1 deadline. Ensure the major is the same in BOTH your TAG application and the regular UC Transfer application.
  6. Submit a Transfer Academic Update.
  7. Fulfill all remaining coursework and GPA requirements as outlined in your TAG agreement.

Selective major course requirements

Certain majors are considered selective and have additional requirements for all applicants. TAG requirements may exceed these selective major course requirements — both selective major and TAG requirements must be satisfied. You must complete selective major course requirements as outlined by the end of spring term prior to transfer. You must achieve and maintain minimum required GPAs for courses in the groups or series below that have been completed at the time of application.

Important information

Report all coursework, including international coursework, on the TAG and UC application, regardless if it is considered transferable or if you do not want any credit.

Lower division unit limitations

Students who attended any colleges or universities other than a CCC must hold fewer than 80 UC-transferable semester units (or 120 quarter units) overall, after they apply UC lower-division unit limitations and exclusions, to be eligible for a TAG. Contact a UC Davis advisor, for more information.
