Subject: : Biosystems Engineering

College: : Engineering & Architecture

School: : Biosystems & Food Engineering

Level: : 4 (Masters)

Credits: : 5

Module Coordinator: : Dr Joseph Sweeney

Trimester: : Spring

Mode of Delivery: : Blended

Internship Module: : No

How will I be graded? : Letter grades

Curricular information is subject to change.

This module examines the principles and theories that underpin the concept of Internet of Things (IoT) enabled Agri-Food Production. \ \ The module will focus on (i) IoT sensors, IoT cloud Platforms and their applications to agriculture, (ii) Proximal Sensing, (iii) IoT decision support and (iv) Power Management. Through the completion of a set of IoT practicals students will learn the basics of programming and communication with an IoT cloud platform. To increase their understanding of what is required for successful smart Applications in real world agricultural systems, they will be tasked with implementing and demonstrating their own virtual IoT Sensor agricultural smart application.
