Over €1.8 million in prize phase funding has been announced under the co-funded Research Ireland - Defence Innovation Challenge. ##### RIBA Gold Medal: Alum Níall McLaughlin awarded one of architecture’s most prestigious honours

Irish architect Níall McLaughlin has been awarded the 2026 Royal Gold Medal for architecture, the UK’s highest honour in the field. A Horizon Europe-backed UCD project is leveraging advanced robotics, AI, and augmented reality (AR) to modernise agriculture, combat labour shortages, and prioritise worker safety.
