# Transfers in and out of the BBA/BCS Double Degree program

## Transfer into BBA/BCS Double Degree

The  [BBA/BCS Double Degree program](https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/node/2865)is direct-entry only. Students interested in this program must apply (or reapply if already a current UW student) as outlined in [Future Undergraduates: Applying and admissions](https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/node/2871).

Students already in the BBA/BMath Double Degree program can change their BMath into BCS by transferring into CS. More information can be found on [Transfer to CS](https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/current-undergraduate-students/cstransfer) where you would be considered a Math student.

## Transfer out of BBA/BCS Double Degree

First, discuss your plan to transfer to BCS single degree with the BBA/BCS DD advisor to confirm whether this is the right decision for you. Note that returning to BBA/BCS from BCS single degree is not possible after the paperwork has been processed.

## UW-based BBA/BCS transferring to BCS single degree (co-op)

To transfer from BBA/BCS to [BCS Computer Science](https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/current-undergraduate-students/majors/computer-science-bcs-bmath) (single degree) at Waterloo, complete a  [plan modification form](https://uwaterloo.ca/forms/undergraduate-studies/plan-modification-form) and send it to the [BBA/BCS Advisors](https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/bbabcs-contact).

### Deadlines

The [Add deadline](https://uwaterloo.ca/registrar/important-dates/list) is the cutoff date for a transfer being effective during the current term. After the [Add deadline](https://uwaterloo.ca/registrar/important-dates/list), the transfer can only take effect at the start of the next term.\

You can ignore the dates otherwise noted on the plan modification form.

### Co-op

There would not be changes to your co-op as a Waterloo student.

## WLU based BBA/BCS transferring to BCS single degree (regular/co-op)

To be eligible to apply for transfer to [Computer Science (BCS)](https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/current-undergraduate-students/majors/computer-science-bcs-bmath) at Waterloo, **WLU-based** BBA/BCS students must meet the following requirements:

- students must have completed all [first-year academic progression requirements](https://cs.uwaterloo.ca/bbabcs-courses#first-year),
- students must achieve at least 60% in one of CS136/CS146 with CR in CS136L.

## First-year Program Requirements - BBA/BCS Double degree

The  [BBA academic progression requirements](https://academic-calendar.wlu.ca/section.php?cal=1&s=1156&sp=3828&ss=4581&y=92#Progression_and_Graduation_Requirements__Honours_Degree_Programs) tend to have a firmer deadline compared to that of the BCS program, specifically the completion of courses by the end of each year of study. As an example, if you started school in Sep 2024, then your first year requirements must be met by Aug 2025.

If there is a question of interpretation or a discrepancy between the information below and other sources, the University Calendars for UW and WLU always takes precedence.

Ideally you *should* complete   - CS115, CS135/145 - CS116 or CS136/146 with CS136L - MATH135/145, MATH136/146, MATH137/147, and MATH138/148 | By August 31 of your first year you must complete of **10 distinct courses** (5.0 units), including   - **BU111** and **BU121** (with first attempts completed before April 30) - **EC120** and **EC140**   with maximum 3 repeats in total and maximum 1 repeat for any course. You must also have achieved a minimum GPA of   - 7.0 in **BU111** and **BU121** - 5.0 in non-BU courses from both WLU and UW |

### Deadlines

The deadline to complete the form is the first day of the month before the start of the next term.

- December 1 (for Winter term admission)
- April 1 (for Spring term admission)
- August 1 (for Fall term admission)

### Co-op

As a WLU-based transfer student, you would be admitted to a Computer Science Regular program, i.e. **you will lose co-op status by default**.

If you are in your 1B term (i.e. when applying you have no more than 6.0 units completed, including transfer credits), then may apply to transfer into a co-op program at the same time as your transfer into single degree. Please be aware that applications to transfer to co-op are [due on the last day of lectures of your 1B term](https://uwaterloo.ca/math/co-op/transfer#what-is-the-deadline).
