This document governs the ordering and participation in CEMC Mathematics and Computing contests and using CEMC Website and Resources. By using our services, including contest ordering and participation, you agree to these conditions. Please read them carefully. Note that all fees are in Canadian dollars.

CEMC Contest Participation

All contest supervisors and participants must agree to these standards in addition to any specific instructions included with each contest. The CEMC standards for all contests are:

Contest Integrity and Consequences:

Shipping Policy and Fees

Any duties associated with receiving and sending packages will be the responsibility of the school.

The CEMC does not permit schools to charge participants a contest fee higher than the fees published on the CEMC website.

The CEMC does not permit reselling of contests.

When purchasing contests, we require a valid email address, shipping address, as well as valid billing information. Schools are responsible for monitoring the method of payment and acknowledge that, if necessary, we reserve the right to reject an order (e.g., due to errors or omissions in the information provided to us).  We reserve the right to place any additional restrictions on schools at our discretion.

Exceptions

Unfortunately, due to limitations around courier services to certain international destinations, the CEMC is unable to ship contest materials to some locations. Schools affected by this limitation are encouraged to contact the CEMC to explore potential alternative arrangements.

Returning Completed Contests for Marking

(Canadian Senior and Intermediate Mathematics Contests, Pascal, Cayley, Fermat, Euclid, Fryer, Galois and Hypatia)

Schools are required to return completed contests to the CEMC as soon as possible after writing the contest. Each school is responsible for independently arranging and paying for the shipping of completed contests back to the CEMC. Select Free/Domicile Duties/paid at the time of shipment to ensure all fees acquired during transit are directed to the school. We strongly recommend using a COURIER to ensure materials are returned safely and in good condition for marking.

If contests are returned to the CEMC where applicable return/shipping duty fees have NOT been paid, it could cause a delay in the receiving of the package and processing results.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

The CEMC does not offer refunds, credits, or cancellations of any kind. Refunds and credits are not offered for unused contest orders.

Contest Services and School Accounts

Schools must have an active CEMC account to access the Contest Supervisor Portal to order contests, access contest papers, obtain contest results, generate certificates, and more.

New School Accounts

To apply for a new school account, the Principal or Head of Math must submit a New School Application Form Account creation is not automatic and can take approximately three weeks to be manually reviewed. Please keep this timeline in mind when submitting your application.

After creating a CEMC school account, we provide the school with a nine-digit CEMC School Number and a confidential password for ordering contests, accessing contest results and other relevant contest information. The CEMC School Number and password are emailed to the Head of Math contact registered on the CEMC School Account each September for previously registered schools.

School accounts are not individual educator accounts. If an educator changes schools, they should not use their old school account but should check with their new school if they have a CEMC school account.

The CEMC reserves the right to decline any school application.

Contest Services

Suspension of Services

Outstanding amounts for CEMC contests and other services must be paid 30 days from the invoice date. The University of Waterloo finance department and the CEMC will contact schools regarding outstanding balances.

The preferred method of payment for all contests is by credit card. We accept Mastercard, VISA and AMEX. Please note that the billing address associated with the credit card being used will be required at the time of purchase.

Schools in Canada will be subject to a minimum dollar amount per order to be eligible for invoicing.
