# CS at Waterloo rises to 21st spot internationally, according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings

Computer
Science,
the
[University
of
Waterloo’s
top-ranked
subject

has
risen
in
the
global
rankings
to
the
21st
position,
according
to
the
latest
edition
of
the
[Quacquarelli
Symonds
(QS)
World
University
Rankings
by
Subject](https://www.topuniversities.com/subject-rankings)
released
on
April
10,
2024.\
\
This
is
the
fourth
year
in
a
row
that
Computer
Science
was
in
the
top
25
internationally
and
the
top-ranked
subject
at
Waterloo.
“We
are
pleased
with
this
ranking,
as
it
demonstrates
our
commitment
to
research
excellence
and
recruiting
top
talent,”
said
Raouf
Boutaba,
Professor
and
Director
of
the
Cheriton
School
of
Computer
Science.
The
results
are
part
of
the
annual
QS
World
University
Rankings
by
Subject,
which
ranks
almost
1,600
universities
in
54
specific
disciplines.
The
Cheriton
School
of
Computer
Science,
housed
in
Waterloo’s
Davis
Centre,
is
home
to
nine
Fellows
of
the
Royal
Society
of
Canada,
ten
Fellows
of
the
Association
for
Computing
Machinery,
and
seven
Fellows
of
the
Institute
of
Electrical
and
Electronics
Engineers.
The
School
is
also
home
to
many
[winners
of
awards
and
honours
from
other
prestigious
national
and
international
research
societies
and

The

Rankings
by
Subject
incorporates
data
including
academic
reputation,
