The Application Process

1. Find your program

Learn about the School of Computer Science and our world-renowned programs. All four of our degrees are direct-entry, meaning you'll pursue your passions from Day 1. Whether you're looking to streamline your focus in software or gain an understanding of business alongside your Computer Science degree, there's something for everyone with flexible options that allow you to customize and tailor your degree for your goals and aspirations.

2. Learn about our admission requirements

Learn about our admissions process and admission requirements, including required high school courses, admissions averages, and the required Admission Information Form (AIF). Review our extensive list of scholarships and awards and how to fund your university experience.

3. Apply online

Apply on OUAC by the application deadline, and upload all your required documents. Apply to all of the math programs that you'd like to be considered for. You can apply to up to 3 programs at Waterloo.

After we receive your information, we'll send you an acknowledgment email with instructions to access Quest (Waterloo's student information system) and our Admission Information Form (AIF). The AIF is required for admissions. Read through the information to make sure that you are following all of the steps. Your application is not complete until you finish all of the steps listed in our acknowledgment email.

Our acknowledgment email will provide you with your 8-digit Waterloo ID. Once you've received your Waterloo ID, you can upload your transcripts using Quest. As part of your application, we will require your Admission Information Form (AIF), transcripts, and English Language test score (if applicable).

4. Ask questions

Wondering about courses, co-op, or the student experience? We're here to help! Connect with our staff and student ambassadors to chat about all things Computer Science.

5. Accept your offer

You're in! Accept your offer in Quest and learn how to success as a University of Waterloo student.

Computer Science

Become an expert in software, algorithms, programming, and managing large scale problems. You will learn about the power, limitations, and organization of computer software while having the flexibility to customize your degree with various specializations or minors.

Software Engineering

Master both computer software and hardware through a structured program that focuses on engineering philosophies, principles, and practices. Graduates of the BSE program who receive the engineering iron ring are eligible to pursue the Professional Engineer Designation.

Campus Tours

Tour the campus with a student ambassador for a great overview of Waterloo including co-op, student services, student life, living on campus, and more! Faculty of Math tours run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1PM. Register online.
