## Office of Technology (OoT)

### Vision

The Office of Technology will consistently deliver excellence, meeting Rice Business standards in all areas of IT support and services.

### Mission

The Office of Technology supports the research and educational missions of Rice Business through the delivery of knowledgeable, responsive, advanced, and sustainable support and services to faculty, staff, and students.

### Our Values

- Customer Oriented

  We consistently strive to understand the needs of the community of faculty, staff, and students served by the OOT team, and always evaluate and adjust what we do and how we do it to meet those needs.
- Collaborative

  We work together as a team, always willing and available to step in to help as needed, understanding that what is good for the team is also good for us individually. We also assume best intentions of our colleagues and customers, enabling us to work collaboratively throughout Rice Business.
- Excellence

  We always seek to achieve excellence in all that we do. We constantly review ourselves and look for opportunities to improve and learn from our mistakes. Unlike perfection, which leaves no room for error, excellence accounts for the possibility/expectation of error, but empowers us to learn from mistakes and improve what we do on a constant basis.
- Transparency

  We work honestly together, thoughtfully sharing our opinions, recommendations, concerns, etc., all with a goal of achieving positive improvement and outcomes. We avoid harmful conversations, gossip, deception, cover-ups, etc. Honesty and openness guides our approach.

  We remain educated and trained in our fields and always encourage a creative and resourceful approach to problem-solving. We identify challenges and work together to find ways to overcome those challenges; we encourage and challenge new and existing ideas, always seeking to find the best possible solution to address the needs of our community.
