First-Year Core Courses
Key first-year courses will lay the foundation for your leadership journey. You'll also collaborate closely with a dedicated team across all core courses, providing firsthand experience in applying leadership skills and mastering effective teamwork in diverse situations.
- Organizational Behavior
You will learn how individuals, groups and teams interact in complex organizational settings and how to manage them effectively. - Negotiation
You will learn effective negotiation skills and strategies through various scenarios in this Intensive Learning Experience (ILE), enhancing your ability to navigate different negotiation processes across diverse settings. - Leadership
You will develop leadership skills and self-awareness, enabling you to effectively lead teams and organizations. - Strategic Business Communication
You will learn business communication skills and practices for effective writing, presentations, slides, feedback and interpersonal interactions. - Leading Change
You will learn about effective organizational design at both the macro level of implementing change initiatives and the micro level of executing those initiatives.

- Diversity Equity and Inclusion in Business
You will learn to navigate diverse settings, foster teamwork in inclusive environments, and devise solutions for organizational diversity. You will explore identity's impact on interactions and how it shapes diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels. - Emotional Intelligence for Leaders
Employers seek leaders who possess not only the technical acumen to be proficient at their job task, but also the emotional intelligence necessary to build relationships and lead others. In this course, we provide students the ability to discover their base level of emotional intelligence across a set of 12 learned capacities for recognizing their own feelings and those of others. We also provide specific techniques and practice opportunities such that students can improve how they manage the emotions of themselves and others to contribute to effective performance at work. - Leading for Creativity and Innovation
Study of the nature of creativity, creative thinking skills and ways to encourage, promote and effectively manage creativity and innovation in complex organizations. - Leading Through Collaboration
Collaboration is central to organizations. You will learn how to be an effective leader and align individual and team efforts to achieve success. - Power and Influence
You will learn how to build managerial power, influence people and appropriately apply power in organizations. - Team and Teamwork
