## **Welcome, New Postdocs!**

Welcome to Rice University! As a new hire, you will be onboarded by the Office of Human Resources (HR) and your P.I.

Postdocs are considered staff: HR will conduct your new employee orientation and benefits session. If you are eligible for benefits, you will need to complete your benefits enrollment within 30 days of beginning employment. HR also frequently offers a new employee campus tour and lunch. Peruse the [KnOWLedge Cafe](https://knowledgecafe.rice.edu) to find resources for childcare, immigration, mental health, and more!

Your home department and HR will work together to set up your employee ID number and email access. Once you have an employee number, you will be able to visit the Rice University Police Department to have your ID card created and to pick up any keys assigned to you.

Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies will require proof of your doctorate. Please send your final graduate transcripts electronically to [graduate@rice.edu](mailto:graduate@rice.edu) or mail them to our office:
