We're solving for a greener way to power the planet. As the world’s energy needs grow, Rice engineers are developing ways to reach the goal of net zero emissions by 2050. With researchers focused on renewable energy generation, storage, and carbon capture, Rice Engineering is uniquely equipped to develop disruptive approaches to sustainable practices that steer us towards a greener future.

We collaborate with researchers and industries around the globe on energy and sustainability through REINVENTS (Rice Engineering Initiative for Energy Transition and Sustainability), Carbon Hub, and the NEWT Center (Nanotechnology-Enabled Water Treatment).
