I am a PhD candidate in Dr. Caroline Ajo-Franklin's lab in the Biosciences Department. I conduct research in microbial bioelectronics, connecting living and nonliving systems through electronic interfaces for exciting applications in health and environmental remediation. Prior to pursuing a Ph.D. in the sciences, I worked as a music educator for 9 years, engaging with learners of all ages. I have brought my passion for education into my scientific pursuits and hope to make science more accessible for all kinds of learners.

Why I decided to go to grad school:

After completing an undergraduate research opportunity, I knew I wanted to pursue research as a career. I was drawn to Rice for its stellar research reputation, particularly in synthetic biology.

Fun fact about me:

I have four rescue cats that keep my life very interesting!

Favorite thing about Rice:

My favorite thing about Rice is the student community! I love being a part of a community where collaboration and connection is encouraged over competition.

Favorite thing about Houston:

Houston has amazing food!
