Open to students studying in the US and due to graduate between December 2027 and June 2028, our early talent program is a fascinating introduction to the energy trading industry. It will support your undergraduate progress, while opening your eyes to the full range of opportunities that our business and sector offer. You’ll also gain skills and knowledge that’ll help you apply for one of our internships in the future.
Our early talent participants learn from some of the most hardworking professionals within Commodity Trading. You will gain exposure to our Finance, Risk Management, Marketing & Origination, Commercial, Trading, Analytics, and Supply Chain teams on our Houston or Chicago Trade Floors.
During our Early Talent Program, you’ll:
- Learn about our Front and Middle Office functions within trading and discover career opportunities at BP across commodities including: oil, refined products, power, natural gas, LNG, and biofuels.
- Gain real insights into life at bp: Interactive presentations, discussions with leaders, and the chance to meet employees currently in our early career programs.
- Hear how our Supply, Trading, and Shipping teams navigate and deliver value in the global energy markets
- Recruitment insights: Hear directly from the recruitment team about the application and interview process for bp’s summer internship and Graduate Development Programs.
- Apply your knowledge in a practical setting.
- Attend a trip to a bp office (4 days in June 2026) – must attend in-person to receive early access to our internship applications)
- Houston Program Dates: June 1-4
- Chicago Program Dates: June 8-11

Discovery Day participants will visit our Gulf of America headquarters in Houston, TX and learn how our Wells and Subsurface teams are bringing together world‑class technology and deep technical expertise to safely discover, develop, and deliver the energy the world relies on! You’ll spend a full day inside bp exploring careers in Wells, Petroleum Engineering, and Reservoir Engineering and get a real look at the projects our interns and early‑career engineers take on, including opportunities to rotate offshore.
You’ll hear from senior leaders about their career journeys, why Oil & Gas remain core to bp’s future, and why we’re looking for talented students like you to help build the next generation of technical expertise. The day also includes a tour of our Houston office and hands‑on interview practice with our Early Careers team and hiring managers.
