Benefits-eligible employees that have been employed with Georgia Tech for at least 6 months can voluntarily donate their unused sick leave to a pool where it is shared by other Georgia Tech employees that have exhausted their own accrued sick/vacation due to their illness or that of an immediate family member.  Employees are given the opportunity to become a member of the Shared Sick Leave Program annually during Open Enrollment. To request sick leave, complete the **[Sick Leave Request Form](https://benefits.hr.gatech.edu/shared-sick-leave/)**.



# Educational Support Leave

To supplement work-life balance options for University System of Georgia employees, each full-time, non-temporary employee of the USG shall be eligible for up to eight (8) hours of paid leave per calendar year for the purpose of promoting education in this state as authorized by O.C.G.A. § 45-20-32.

Only activities directly related to student achievement and academic support will qualify for education support leave. Education support leave is not charged against any other leave. # Other Types of Leave

- Bereavement
- Voting
- Court Duty with Pay
- Military Leave with Pay (up to 18 days per federal fiscal year) and Military Leave without Pay
- Organ Donation Leave with Pay (up to 30 days)
- Bone Marrow Donation Leave with Pay (up to 7 days)
- Blood Donation Leave with Pay (8 hours per year or 2 hours per donation, up to four times per year)
- Blood Platelets or Granulocytes donors through the plasmapheresis process may receive 16 hours per year or 4 hours per donation up to four times per year.

### **Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)**

The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave each year. The employee must be employed for at least one year and have worked at least 1,250 hours during the previous 12 months.

### **Paid Parental Leave**

Eligible employees are entitled up to 240 hours (6 weeks) of Paid Leave for qualifying events related to birth, adoption, or foster placement of a minor child as part of House Bill 1010.
